Who am I?
My storyMy name is Qoyllur I’m a multidisciplinary artist from Mexico, and I’m currently based in the Okanagan Valley, where I acknowledged the ancestral, traditional, and unceded territory of the Syilx Nation.
I have an artistic spirit which never fades but expanses into various creative disciplines, including belly dance, violin, bel canto, and painting.
Some of my artwork has been exhibited at the Curator Gallery in Osoyoos, where I also painted The Birth of Spring mural. I have created artworks for local businesses, including La Marqueza in Osoyoos and a 42x8 foot mural of classic cars in 2024, for a private residence.
In 2023 I had the privilege to be part of the “Mini square mural” hosted by the “Cannery brewing” and “ The Penticton art gallery” both located in the beautiful city of Penticton.
In 2023 I started to exhibit some artwork at the “Legacy Den Art Gallery” In February 2025, I’ll be holding my first solo exhibition at Gino’s Caffe in Osoyoos.
At the age of 15, I began formal artistic training with musical initiation, violin, and classical singing at the Regional School of Music in the city I was born, later I continue vocal studies for four years at the Conservatory of the State of Mexico. I’m primarily a self-taught painter, but I studied watercolour under the tutelage of Gloria Temblador at age 13 for a year, and engraving with Sergio Ulloa in Mexico City in 2017 for a few months. The most influential mentor that I had, has been Honorio Robledo, with whom I collaborated on two murals in 2017 and 2020.
In 2014, I won 2nd place in a state painting contest with an anti-bullying theme. Since I move to Canada in 2019, where I met my life partner, I have continued expanding my artistic footprint. I painted a series of murals at "La Cantina" restaurant in 2020, inspired by traditional Mexican themes like Día de los Muertos.
